The Precision Brand 316 stainless steel shim is made from a soft (annealed) temper material, ensuring flexibility and ease of use. Type 316 stainless steel provides superior corrosion resistance to most chemicals, salts, acids, and marine environments due to its composition, which includes 2.0 to 3.0% molybdenum. Its fabrication characteristics are akin to type 302 and type 304 stainless steels. The shim measures 6" in width, 12" in length, and has a thickness of 0.001". It is extensively utilized in various applications, including chemical and food processing equipment, photographic, pharmaceutical, marine, and textile finishing equipment.
