The 4B+ horizontal mailboxes are U.S.P.S. approved specifically for replacement and retrofit installations, and are not intended for new installations or renovations which require relocation; for these cases, the more suited 4C horizontal mailboxes manufactured to USPS-STD-4B+ specifications should be utilized. These mailboxes are ideal for various settings including apartments, condominiums, commercial buildings, and residential developments, and are constructed entirely of aluminum with a durable powder-coated finish available in aluminum, bronze, gold, and sandstone. The mailboxes come in "A" size doors (6-1/2" W x 5-1/4" H) and "B" size doors (13" W x 5-1/4" H), with standard "A" size door units available in configurations of 3, 4, or 5 doors wide and 5, 6, or 7 doors high, whereas larger "B" size door units are available with 2 doors wide and 5, 6, or 7 doors high. Each door is equipped with a 5 pin cylinder cam lock and includes 2 keys. It is important to note that one mailbox opening is required for a master postal lock installed by the U.S.P.S., which cannot be used for mail distribution. The front-loading door panel operates on a continuous hinge and includes factory installed trim measuring 3/4" W x 1/4" D, alongside a solid rear cover.
