Scotch-Brite™ SC Surface Conditioning Belt is a durable belt designed for detail work including blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, and achieving straight-line-brushed finishes on various metals. These abrasive belts are effective at removing coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives, and are available in multiple widths and lengths for use on various belt sanding tools for applications on both wood and metal. The belts can be used with wide belt sanders for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable sanders on wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts with file tools in metalworking to reach small areas or inside corners. They are manufactured with a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is ideal for low-pressure applications such as paint prep and finishing, while aluminum oxide offers high cut-rate and long life. Although silicon carbide tends to break down faster, it yields a finer finish. As belt sanders operate, they continue sanding effectively without clogging due to the small grooves in the abrasive belt that open as they move around the drive wheel, making them suitable for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing across diverse surfaces.
