The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ radial bristle disc measures 9/16" in diameter and 1/16" in thickness, featuring proprietary 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain embedded in flexible, molded bristles that provide greater surface contact than wire brushes while maintaining abrasive properties throughout the disc’s life. This fast-running disc is designed for removing paint, stains, adhesives, weld burns, rust, heavy oxides, and surface contaminants from large areas. Under normal use, the flexible bristles remain securely in place and achieve the desired finish with light pressure. The disc outlasts wire and other abrasive discs and is suitable for use on metals including aluminum, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, and stainless steel, making it ideal for general industrial, aerospace, automotive, metalworking, and transportation applications. It incorporates 3M™ ceramic aluminum oxide blend, engineered to enhance toughness and hardness with a grain that fractures frequently for superior cut-rate and durability, outperforming traditional aluminum oxide abrasives. This ceramic abrasive is effective for moderate to heavy stock removal as well as finishing and is built to withstand intense heat and stress. Scotch-Brite™ abrasives combine abrasive minerals within a non-woven fiber matrix, creating an open-web material that runs cool and resists loading to maintain high cutting performance by minimizing clogging. The kit meets industry standards and certifications relevant to surface conditioning, with specifications tailored for contour finishing, adhesive removal, blending, cleaning, coating removal, deburring, and fine finishing tasks.
