The 3M™ Flap Wheel Type 83 747D measures 3" x 1" x 1/4" and features P120 grit ceramic mixed abrasive, combining aluminum oxide with 3M ceramic grain for enhanced toughness, hardness, and longer life. Designed for light to moderate stock removal and surface preparation, this flap wheel provides fast cutting and can withstand intense heat and stress applications. The abrasive mix is bonded to a flexible X-weight cotton backing using a resin bond that resists thermal and chemical deterioration during high-speed sanding, enabling cooler running on stainless steel with an included grinding aid. The self-cutting flaps wear evenly to expose fresh abrasive material, ensuring consistent sanding performance throughout the wheel’s life. This coated abrasive flap wheel is suitable for light grinding, blending, graining, and scale removal on various metals, and is available in flange or spindle mounted configurations. It is used primarily in metal fabrication for blending, descaling, refining, and setting the grain.
