The 3M™ flap wheel type 83 244D measures 3" x 1" x 1/4" and features 120 grit aluminum oxide abrasives on a firm, X-weight cloth backing. This general-purpose flap wheel provides a consistent finish and uniform cut, suitable for a variety of grinding and polishing applications. Aluminum oxide is chosen for its fast cut-rate, hardness, strength, and long life, as it self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, making it more durable than traditional natural abrasives. The flap wheel is resin bonded for heat resistance and designed with a straight spindle mount for easy attachment to bench motors, die grinders, and inline sanders. It is ideal for applications such as blending, descaling, refining, and setting the grain, primarily used in metal fabrication industries.
