The 3M™ flap wheel type 84 244D measures 3" x 1" x 1/4-20 external and is composed of 80 grit aluminum oxide abrasive on a firm, X-weight cloth backing. This general purpose flap wheel delivers a consistent finish and uniform cut, suitable for a variety of grinding and polishing applications. The aluminum oxide abrasive is resin bonded for heat resistance and is known for its fast cut-rate, long life, hardness, and strength, making it ideal for grinding, sanding, and finishing tasks. It self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, enhancing durability compared to traditional natural abrasives. The flap wheel features a straight spindle mount for easy attachment and is designed for use with bench motors, die grinders, and inline sanders. Typical applications include blending, descaling, refining, and setting the grain, primarily serving the metal fabrication industry.
