The 3M™ flap wheel type 83 747D measures 3" x 1" x 1/4" and features a 60 grit ceramic abrasive made from a proprietary mix of aluminum oxide blended with 3M ceramic grain to enhance toughness, hardness, and durability. Designed for light to moderate stock removal and surface preparation, this ceramic/aluminum oxide blend cuts faster and lasts longer than standard aluminum oxide abrasives, handling intense heat and stress applications. Its abrasive mix is bonded to an X-weight flexible cotton backing with a resin bond engineered to resist thermal and chemical deterioration during high-speed sanding, allowing for faster cuts and higher cut rates. The wheel incorporates a grinding aid for cooler running on stainless steel, and its self-cutting flaps continuously expose new abrasive material to maintain consistent sanding. Suitable for flange or spindle mounting, these flap wheels are ideal for light grinding, blending, graining, and scale removal on various metals.
