The 3M™ Flap Wheel Type 84 747D measures 2" x 1" x 1/4-20 and features an external 60 grit ceramic mixed ceramic abrasive. Each flap is coated with a proprietary ceramic abrasive mix combining aluminum oxide and 3M ceramic grain to enhance toughness, hardness, cut-rate, and durability, making it suitable for light to moderate stock removal and surface preparation. The abrasive mix is bonded to an X-weight flexible cotton backing using a resin bond designed to resist thermal and chemical deterioration during high-speed sanding, providing faster cuts and a higher cut rate. The flap wheel includes a grinding aid for cooler operation on stainless steel, and its self-cutting flaps expose fresh abrasive material for consistent sanding throughout its life. These coated abrasive flap wheels are ideal for light grinding, blending, graining, and scale removal on metals, available in flange or spindle-mounted versions, and are commonly used in metal fabrication industries for blending, descaling, refining, and setting the grain.
