The 3M™ Flap Wheel Type 83 747D measures 2-1/2" x 1" x 1/4" and features a 60 grit ceramic abrasive composed of a proprietary mixed ceramic blend combining aluminum oxide with 3M ceramic grain for enhanced toughness, hardness, faster cutting, and longer-lasting performance. Designed for light to moderate stock removal and surface preparation, this ceramic/aluminum oxide blend surpasses standard aluminum oxide abrasives in cut rate and durability. The abrasive mix is bonded to a flexible X-weight cotton backing with a resin bond engineered to resist thermal and chemical deterioration during high-speed sanding, providing a hard bond that enables faster cuts and cooler running, particularly on stainless steel. Each flap wheel uses self-cutting flaps that wear away to expose fresh abrasive material for consistent sanding throughout the product's life. Intended for applications such as blending, descaling, refining, and setting the grain, these coated abrasive flap wheels are suitable for light grinding, blending, graining, and scale removal on various metals and are commonly used in the metal fabrication industry. The wheels are available in flange mounted and spindle mounted constructions to accommodate different usage needs.
