The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ EXL Unitized Wheel XL-UW measures 2" x 1/4" x 1/4" and contains aluminum oxide in a medium grade. These unitized wheels feature a soft, conformable consistency that effectively smoothes, deburrs, and finishes edges of metal alloys, plastics, and composites. Available in a range of densities from 2 (very soft) to 8 (hard and aggressive), the wheel offers options for applications requiring conformability or maximum cut and durability. The unitized wheel provides a clean edge without smearing, reducing additional clean-up and preparation. Designed for optimal performance on die grinders, it minimizes heat buildup during use, making it suitable for heat-sensitive materials. The wheel is filled with abrasive minerals and is offered in aluminum oxide grades—fine, medium, coarse, and extra coarse—and silicon carbide in very fine and fine grades. Scotch-Brite™ products incorporate abrasives into non-woven nylon fibers, forming an abrasive system that ensures consistent results throughout the product’s life. The open-web material minimizes clogging and maintains high cutting performance. Typical applications include blending and deburring within industries such as builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
