The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Metal Finishing Wheel MF-WL measures 6" in diameter, 1" in width, and 2" in arbor size, featuring aluminum oxide abrasive in a medium grade. This metal finishing wheel combines conformability with consistent abrasive cutting action to provide uniform brushed stainless and satin finishes and is effective for blending and matching #3 or #4 mill finishes on stainless steel, as well as creating brushed or satin finishes on cutlery, appliance trim, builders hardware, and plumbing fixtures. On softer metals like aluminum, copper, and brass, it blends out minor surface imperfections and handling marks while providing decorative finishes. Designed typically for stationary machinery, these wheels are convolutedly wound on a core to run smoothly and are available in diameters from 6 to 16 inches and widths starting at 1/2 inch. The aluminum oxide abrasive is selected for its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, making it suitable for grinding, sanding, and finishing a wide variety of substrates, including ferrous alloys. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives incorporate abrasives into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers, creating an open-web material that runs cool, resists loading, and maintains high cutting performance by limiting clogging. Typical applications include blending, finishing, polishing, straightline brushed finishes, and weld cleaning.
