The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Cross Buff 1" x 3/8" Medium Grit Aluminum Oxide kit is designed to polish, clean, satin finish, denib, and defuzz the interior diameters of metal components such as lifter bores, valve bodies, valve spools, and tubing. The nylon web provides conformability, making it effective for removing surface oxidation, rust, and corrosion on dies and molds prior to coating and polishing. Featuring a 2-ply staggered design, it delivers consistent results even in hard-to-reach locations, unique profiles, and interior contours. This purple cleaning and polishing tool incorporates an aluminum oxide abrasive, known for high cut-rate, hardness, strength, durability, and low heat retention, capable of producing a high-luster finish. Aluminum oxide self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges during use, ensuring longer life compared to traditional abrasives like garnet. The Scotch-Brite™ Cross Buff’s non-woven fibers are embedded with abrasives, forming an abrasive system that maintains high performance and limits clogging during use. Commonly employed in aerospace, automotive, and other industrial markets, it is suitable for blending, cleaning, and deburring internal diameters and polishing a wide variety of substrates including ferrous alloys in metal fabrication.
