The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ EX3 deburring wheel measures 6" x 1/2" x 1" with a fine grit silicon carbide abrasive. It features a convolute construction that provides a hard, durable wheel ideal for applications requiring edge retention, performing best when consistently used on sharp edges or metal burrs. The unique resin system resists smearing and heat buildup during use. This wheel is effective for deburring, blending, finishing, and polishing edges on glass, hard and soft composites, as well as metals commonly found in builder's hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines. Due to its hard density, the EX3 is not recommended for conformability and finishing of flat surfaces. It is available with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive mineral; silicon carbide is a synthetic sharp mineral suited to low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, breaking down faster but producing a finer finish, while aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral offering a higher cut rate and longer life. Scotch-Brite™ abrasives combine these abrasives with non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers to create a surface conditioning system that runs cool, resists load, limits clogging, and delivers consistent performance throughout the life of the product. The deburring wheel is relevant across industries including builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
