The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Multi-Finishing Wheel measures 8" x 1" x 3" with a fine grit silicon carbide abrasive, featuring a convolute construction that provides cleaning and final finishing on stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, and other metals. Combining mineral grades with soft density, it is well suited for final finishing applications requiring high conformability and less density, ideal for producing #3 or #4 finishes on curved, contoured, and flat surfaces. The wheel runs cool and resists loading due to its open-web design, reducing part discoloration and warping while extending wheel life. Available in coarse, medium, and fine abrasive grades, it uses silicon carbide, a sharp synthetic mineral suited for low-pressure applications like paint preparation, producing a superior finish despite breaking down faster than aluminum oxide. Scotch-Brite™ abrasives incorporate abrasives into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers, creating an abrasive system that delivers consistent results throughout the product life, while the open-web material limits clogging and maintains high performance. Common applications include blending, finishing, and producing straightline brushed finishes for builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
