The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ clean and strip unitized wheel measures 3" x 1/2" x 1/4" and features an extra coarse silicon carbide abrasive mineral in a hard, open-web, unitized wheel construction with a hard 7 density and low conformability. This durable wheel is designed for aggressive coating removal, cleaning welds, and removing rust, paint, and coatings, performing well with portable tools and die grinders to reach tight or confined areas. The extra coarse silicon carbide combined with a tough synthetic web effectively removes scale, rust, surface contaminants, paints, coatings, weld discoloration, and splatter, with a dense, open-web design that resists loading and runs smoothly even when removing soft coatings. The unitized wheel uses a synthetic abrasive mineral known for its sharpness and suitability for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation, offering a superior finish compared to aluminum oxide despite a faster breakdown. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives incorporate abrasives into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers, creating an abrasive system that delivers consistent results throughout the product’s life. The open-web material runs cool and is load-resistant, maintaining cutting performance by minimizing fiber clogging.
