The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ metal finishing wheel measures 6" x 2" x 1" with a medium 4A grit aluminum oxide abrasive, designed to combine conformability with consistent abrasive cutting action to achieve uniform brushed stainless and satin finishes. It is typically used to blend and match #3 or #4 mill finishes on stainless steel and create brushed or satin finishes on products such as cutlery, appliance trim, builders hardware, and plumbing fixtures. On softer metals like aluminum, copper, and brass, the wheel effectively blends out minor surface imperfections and handling marks while providing decorative finishes. The wheel is generally used on stationary machinery and is available in diameters from 6 to 16 inches and widths starting at 1/2 inch. The convolutedly wound core allows smooth operation and professional finishing results, with grade options of CRS and medium. The aluminum oxide abrasive mineral offers high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, suitable for various substrates in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives incorporate abrasives into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers, forming an abrasive system that delivers consistent performance by using an open-web material that runs cool and resists loading, thereby limiting clogging.
