The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ EX2 deburring wheel measures 6" x 1/2" x 1" with a FIN 8S grit silicon carbide abrasive. This convolute-constructed wheel offers mid-range aggressiveness and hardness for deburring, edge radius, blending, polishing, and finishing. It performs optimally when consistently applied to sharp edges or metal burrs. The wheel combines mineral aggressiveness and density hardness, making it suitable for applications requiring moderate conformability, wheel hardness, and edge retention. Its unique resin system minimizes smearing and reduces heat build-up, enabling the wheel to run cool and resist loading due to an open-web construction, which also lessens the risk of part discoloration and warping while extending wheel life. The EX2 wheel is available in fine and medium grade abrasives and in silicon carbide or aluminum oxide mineral options. Silicon carbide, a synthetic sharp mineral, is used for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, breaking down faster but producing a finer finish, whereas aluminum oxide provides a higher cut rate and longer life. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives incorporate abrasives into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers, creating a consistent abrasive system that maintains performance over the product's life. The open-web material design keeps the wheel cool and load resistant, preventing fiber clogging and ensuring high cutting performance. Typical applications include blending, deburring, finishing, flat finishing, and polishing of builder's hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, and plumbing components.
