The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ EXL unitized wheel measures 1 1/2" x 1/8" x 3/16" and features CRS grit aluminum oxide abrasive minerals that quickly smooth edges of metal, plastic, and composites. It offers a soft, conformable consistency effective for smoothing, deburring, and finishing edges of metal alloys as well as many plastics and composites, with a range of densities from very soft 2 density for conformability to hard, aggressive 8 density for maximum cut and durability. The wheel provides a clean edge without smearing, reducing the need for additional cleanup, and is designed for optimal performance on a die grinder, minimizing heat buildup during operation, which is ideal for heat-sensitive materials. Available abrasives include aluminum oxide in fine, medium, coarse, and extra coarse grades, and silicon carbide in very fine and fine grades. Scotch-Brite™ combines abrasives with non-woven nylon fibers in an open-web material that resists load and limits clogging, maintaining high performance throughout the life of the product. Typical applications include blending and deburring, and it serves industries such as builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
