The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ metal finishing wheel measures 12" x 2" x 5" and features a CRS grit aluminum oxide abrasive designed to combine conformability with consistent abrasive cutting action, providing uniform brushed stainless and satin finishes. This wheel is effective for blending and matching #3 or #4 mill finishes on stainless steel as well as creating brushed or satin finishes on cutlery, appliance trim, builders hardware, and plumbing fixtures. On softer metals like aluminum, copper, and brass, it blends minor surface imperfections and handling marks while producing decorative finishes. Typically used on stationary machinery, it is available in diameters ranging from 6 to 16 inches and widths of 1/2 inch and greater. The wheel is convolutedly wound on a core for smooth operation and professional results, and comes in grades CRS and medium. The aluminum oxide abrasive is chosen for its high cut rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, making it suitable for woodworking and metalworking on ferrous alloys. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives incorporate abrasives into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers to create a unique surface conditioning system that delivers consistent results throughout the product’s life. The open-web material runs cool and resists loading, maintaining high abrasive performance by limiting clogging. Typical applications include blending, finishing, polishing, achieving a straightline brushed finish, and weld cleaning across industries such as building hardware and plumbing fixtures.
