The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ cut and polish unitized wheel measures 3" x 1/8" x 1/4" and features medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive. This tightly layered, durable wheel is available in medium to hard densities and is designed for aggressive deburring, blending, and finishing on harder metals, particularly where portability is required. The unitized wheel replaces many conventional abrasive products such as rubber bonded wheels and small set-up wheels, combining aluminum oxide mineral with a tough nylon web for uniform results. Its tightly layered construction produces a smooth-running, fast-cutting wheel that operates cool, resists loading, and maintains consistent performance due to the open-web material's load resistance and cooling properties. Aluminum oxide was selected for its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, making it suitable for grinding ferrous alloys and other substrates in woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive system integrates minerals into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers, providing a consistent surface conditioning product that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, enhancing durability and cutting efficiency.
