The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning disc measures 3 inches in diameter with NH SFN grit silicon carbide abrasives and features a durable, non-woven fiber construction that conforms well to irregular or contoured surfaces without undercutting or damaging the base material. The open-web material runs cool and resists loading, enabling prolonged operation while evenly distributing aluminum oxide abrasives that deliver a high cut-rate for consistent finishing. The disc incorporates aluminum oxide abrasive, known for its toughness, durability, and self-fracturing properties that expose fresh cutting edges during use, providing superior performance compared to traditional abrasives like garnet. Aluminum oxide is suitable for both woodworking and metalworking applications, including ferrous alloys, due to its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention.
