The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ EX2 deburring wheel measures 12" x 1" x 5" and features a medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive. It is a convolute-constructed wheel designed to provide mid-range aggressiveness and hardness suitable for deburring, edge radius, blending, polishing, and finishing tasks. The wheel performs best when used on sharp edges or metal burrs, combining a mineral for aggressiveness and density for hardness to deliver moderate conformability, wheel hardness, and edge retention. Its unique resin system minimizes smearing and heat build-up, while its open-web construction allows the wheel to run cool and resist loading, reducing the risk of part discoloration and warping and extending wheel life. The EX2 wheel is available in fine and medium grades with silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasives; silicon carbide is sharper and ideal for low-pressure applications like paint prep and finishing but breaks down faster, producing a finer finish, whereas aluminum oxide offers a higher cut rate and longer life. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives incorporate abrasive minerals into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers, creating an abrasive system that delivers consistent results throughout the product's life. The open-web design helps keep the abrasives cutting efficiently by limiting clogging. This wheel is suitable for applications such as blending, deburring, finishing, flat finishing, and polishing on builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, and plumbing fixtures.
