The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ EXL unitized wheel, measuring 1" x 1/8" x 1/8" with medium grit aluminum oxide, features a soft, conformable consistency designed to effectively smooth, deburr, and finish the edges of metal alloys, plastics, and composites. Available in a variety of densities ranging from a very soft 2 density for conformability to a hard, aggressive 8 density for maximum cut and durability, this unitized wheel provides a clean edge without smearing, reducing the need for additional cleanup and preparation. It is designed for optimal performance on a die grinder and minimizes heat buildup during operation, making it ideal for use on heat-sensitive materials. The wheel is filled with abrasive minerals, including aluminum oxide available in fine, medium, coarse, and extra coarse grades, and silicon carbide in very fine and fine grades. Scotch-Brite™ incorporates abrasives into non-woven nylon fibers, creating an abrasive system that delivers consistent results throughout the product's life. The open-web material is load resistant and limits clogging of the nylon fibers to maintain high cutting performance. Typical applications include blending and deburring, with industries served including builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
