The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ EX2 deburring wheel measures 12" x 1" x 5" and features a fine grit silicon carbide abrasive. This convolute-constructed wheel offers mid-range aggressiveness and hardness, making it suitable for deburring, edge radius, blending, polishing, and finishing applications. It performs best when used consistently on sharp edges or metal burrs. The combination of mineral abrasiveness and density hardness provides moderate conformability, wheel hardness, and edge retention. Its unique resin system minimizes smearing, reduces heat build-up, and the open-web construction helps the wheel run cool and resist loading, thereby reducing part discoloration, warping, and extending wheel life. Available in fine and medium grades, the wheel can be manufactured with silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is sharp and used for low-pressure tasks like paint preparation and finishing, while aluminum oxide offers a higher cut-rate and longer life but produces a coarser finish. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives combine abrasives within non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers for consistent performance throughout the product’s life. This open-web abrasive system is designed to run cool and resist loading by preventing clogging, ensuring high cutting performance. The EX2 wheel is applicable in blending, deburring, finishing, flat finishing, and polishing of builder's hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, and plumbing fixtures.
