The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ metal finishing wheel measures 16" x 1" x 10" and features medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive, designed to combine conformability with consistent abrasive cutting action for uniform brushed stainless and satin finishes. It is used effectively to blend and match #3 or #4 mill finishes on stainless steel and create brushed or satin finishes on items such as cutlery, appliance trim, builders hardware, and plumbing fixtures. For softer metals like aluminum, copper, and brass, the wheel blends out minor surface imperfections and handling marks while providing a decorative finish on builder's hardware and plumbing fixtures. Typically mounted on stationary machinery, these highly conformable wheels are convolutedly wound on a core to run smoothly and achieve professional finishing results. Available in diameters ranging from 6 to 16 inches and widths of 1/2 inch and greater, the wheel is offered in grades CRS and medium. The aluminum oxide abrasive is noted for its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, suitable for a range of woodworking and metalworking substrates including ferrous alloys. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives feature abrasives incorporated into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers, creating a surface conditioning product that delivers consistent results throughout its life; the open-web material runs cool and resists loading to maintain high abrasive performance.
