The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ EXL unitized wheel measures 2" x 1/8" x 3/16" and features medium grit aluminum oxide abrasives. These unitized wheels offer a soft, conformable consistency designed to effectively smooth, deburr, and finish edges of metal alloys, plastics, and composites. They are available in various densities ranging from a very soft 2 density for high conformability to a hard, aggressive 8 density for maximum cut and durability. The product provides a clean edge without smearing, reducing additional cleanup and preparation, and is optimized for use with die grinders, minimizing heat buildup during operation, which makes it suitable for heat-sensitive materials. Filled with abrasive minerals, the wheel is designed to quickly smooth edges and is available with aluminum oxide in fine, medium, coarse, and extra coarse grades, as well as silicon carbide in very fine and fine grades. The Scotch-Brite™ EXL wheel utilizes non-woven nylon fibers combined with abrasives to create a consistent abrasive system that maintains performance throughout the product’s life. The open-web material is load-resistant and limits clogging, ensuring sustained cutting efficiency. Common applications include blending and deburring, and it is used across industries such as builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
