The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ multi-finishing wheel measures 6" x 3" x 1" and features a medium grit silicon carbide abrasive. This convolute-constructed wheel combines mineral grades with a soft density to provide cleaning and final finishing on stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, and other metals, making it well suited for applications that require high conformability and less density. It is ideal for producing #3 or #4 finishes on curved, contoured, and flat surfaces of stainless steel and other metals. The multi-finishing wheel operates cool and resists loading due to its open-web construction, which reduces part discoloration and warping while extending wheel life. Available in coarse, medium, and fine abrasive grades, it uses silicon carbide, a sharp synthetic mineral effective in low-pressure applications such as paint preparation, producing superior finishes despite faster breakdown compared to aluminum oxide. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives incorporate abrasives into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers, creating a system that maintains consistent performance throughout the product’s life. The open-web material prevents clogging, maintaining high cutting performance. Typical applications include blending, finishing, and creating straightline brushed finishes on builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
