The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ multi-finishing wheel measures 6" x 1" x 1" and features a convolute construction with silicon carbide (CRS grit) abrasive for cleaning and final finishing on stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, and other metals. It is designed to produce #3 or #4 finishes on curved, contoured, and flat surfaces, running cool and resisting loading due to its open-web construction, which reduces part discoloration, warping, and extends wheel life. Available in coarse, medium, and fine grades, the wheel provides a high degree of conformability and lower density, with silicon carbide known for sharpness and superior finish in low-pressure applications like paint prep, though it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives incorporate abrasives into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers, creating a consistent abrasive system with an open-web material that limits clogging to maintain high performance. Typical applications include blending, finishing, and straightline brushed finishes for builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
