The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ multi-finishing wheel measures 6" x 2" x 1" with a fine grit silicon carbide abrasive and features a convolute construction designed for cleaning and final finishing of stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, and other metals. This wheel combines mineral grades and soft density to provide high conformability and reduced density, making it ideal for producing #3 or #4 finishes on curved, contoured, and flat surfaces. Its open-web construction runs cool and resists loading, reducing part discoloration and warping while extending the wheel's life. Available in coarse, medium, and fine abrasive grades, the silicon carbide mineral is sharp and suitable for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation, producing a superior finish despite faster breakdown compared to aluminum oxide. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives incorporate abrasives into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers, creating a load-resistant system that maintains abrasive performance by minimizing fiber clogging. Typical applications include blending, finishing, and straight-line brushed finishing in industries such as builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
