The NGD269 is designed for detecting combustible gases in various applications, including automotive exhaust and fuel systems, liquid- and gas-fired heating systems, propane tanks and filling stations, as well as cracked heat exchangers and manholes/sewers. This unit detects the presence of most combustible gases without measuring or displaying their concentration, utilizing an analog bar graph and an audible alarm with variable speed and tone to help locate gas leaks by comparing responses to gas exposure at different points. It measures and displays the concentration of CH4 (methane/natural gas), C3H8 (propane), and H2 (hydrogen) for reference, with readings shown in digital form in PPM, %LEL (lower explosive limit), or %VOL (percentage by volume). The unit features a high-sensitivity, durable semiconductor gas sensor that automatically self-tests all circuitry upon startup and offers calibratable measurements of CH4, C3H8, and H2 at multiple points over specified ranges through a simple on-screen interface. The kit includes a 13 in. (330mm) long flexible gooseneck probe, offers fast warmup and response times, and allows a single button press to set the ambient environment as the measurement baseline. Additional attributes include a headphone jack, on-screen battery status indication, and operation powered by a rechargeable 3.6V Ni-MH (nickel-metal hydride) battery. The NGD269 comes in a hard plastic carrying case with a 110VAC battery charger and includes a 1-year limited warranty.
