The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Clean and Strip Disc 7" x 7/8" Silicon Carbide S XCS is an abrasive designed for high-production environments, featuring good load resistance and consistent cutting action suitable for coating and corrosion removal projects that generate significant dust. The disc includes a standard attachment system compatible with backstands, right angle grinders, and die grinders. It uses extra-coarse (XCS) silicon carbide mineral combined with nylon fibers, providing aggressive cutting with a bright finish; silicon carbide is among the sharpest synthetic minerals and breaks down faster than aluminum oxide while leaving a finer finish. The disc's open nylon web allows debris to escape, enhancing its resistance to loading and extending service life through continuous fiber breakdown that exposes fresh mineral for ongoing sharp cutting and consistent finishes. Its primary applications include coating removal, paint stripping, rust removal, and sealant removal, serving industries such as aerospace, general industrial, marine, metalworking, and MRO.
