The PlateFuge™ is an innovative mini centrifuge designed for efficiently spinning down droplets in PCR plates, featuring a unique swing-out rotor design that prevents spillage. It is half the size of traditional centrifuges and accommodates all popular types of PCR plates, including skirted, semi, and non-skirted configurations, as well as most microtiter plates. With a remarkably compact footprint of 910 in., the PlateFuge™ includes a specially designed swing-out rotor (patent pending) that securely holds two microplates. The rotor chamber is easily accessible and features two plate carriers resting at a 75° angle, allowing for confident plate insertion without the need for sealing tapes or caps. When the lid is closed, the rotor accelerates, causing the centrifugal force to swing the plates into a horizontal position, efficiently concentrating any droplets on the walls into the well bottoms. With a G-force of 600 xg, most samples can be spun down in less than 20 seconds. The process concludes by simply opening the lid, which activates an automatic electric brake that brings the rotor to a halt in just 4 seconds, enabling easy removal of the plates.
