Funnels intended for use with flammables are fitted with a brass flame arrester that absorbs and dissipates heat, preventing any external ignition source, such as sparks from power tools, static electricity, or cigarettes, from reaching the drum's flammable contents. Constructed from heavy 18-gauge galvanized steel with an electrostatically applied epoxy powder-coat finish, these funnels offer durability and chemical resistance. Self-close models incorporate a fusible link that melts at 165°F (74°C), automatically shutting the cover in case of a fire to extinguish flames. The popular funnel No. 08207 features a 6" (152mm) flame arrester for general use, while funnel No. 08205, equipped with a 32" (813mm) flame arrester, facilitates greater liquid flow. For viscous liquids, funnel No. 08208 includes a 33" (838mm) open-end brass tube to direct the flow. All funnels are compliant with EPA and OSHA regulations and are FM approved, with options for larger funnels to accept a lock for preventing unauthorized access. It is crucial to segregate incompatible wastes to avoid chemical reactions or explosions and to store drums properly indoors or in a weather-protected area outside, as funnels can remain in place on the drums. The product can expose users to chemicals including lead, which is known in the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
