The Forney® 180 ST+ stick/TIG welder is a versatile machine designed for various welding applications, featuring pulse welding for improved results on thin materials and out-of-position welding. It is a portable, user-friendly, AC generator-friendly device powered by innovative inverter technology, allowing operation at both 120V and 240V. The welder is suitable for mild steel and stainless steel, with specifications including a lift arc TIG capability that requires a TIG torch with a gas valve in the handle (sold separately), output power of 80A/180A, and an electrode diameter capacity of up to 5/32". It can handle plate thicknesses up to 3/8" and has a duty cycle of 30% at 80A on 120V and 25% at 180A on 240V for both stick and TIG processes. The amperage range for TIG welding is from 10A to 80A on 120V and 10A to 180A on 240V, while the stick amperage range mirrors those values. This single-phase machine operates at a frequency of 50/60Hz and is certified CSA listed. It requires a 100% argon gas connection and is not recommended for aluminum welding. The welder is backed by a 3-year warranty on the power source, making it an excellent choice for DIY projects, farm and ranch work, maintenance and repair, as well as light industrial applications.
