The HSS taper shank drill is designed for general purpose drilling applications in a variety of normal steels, cast iron, and other ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys, providing optimal performance and extended tool life. The drill features a right-hand (clockwise rotation) cutting direction, a standard two-flute design, and normal spiral-helical flutes with a standard 118° point angle. Taper shanks are available in standard and special sizes that correspond to the drill diameter, with flutes proportional to the length. Each drill is manufactured from high-speed steel, cylindrically ground, and finished in black. Suitable lubricating or cutting oils and appropriate coolant fluids are recommended for most drilling operations, and the drills are available in a wide range of diameters and lengths.
