The 3M™ Flap Disc 577F is designed for tough grinding applications where a final finish is critical. It features overlapping layers of flaps that continuously wear away to expose fresh abrasive mineral, ensuring a fast, consistent cut while achieving a blended finish. A grinding aid is included to reduce temperatures during the grinding of heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium. This flap disc can be used on a right angle grinder and is available in a giant size, which has the same diameter as standard flap discs but features wider flaps that create extra-thick layers and contain 25% more abrasive material, providing a more aggressive cut and extended life. The three-dimensional construction with abrasive-coated, fiber-reinforced flaps allows for efficient grinding and finishing in one step, usually resulting in a finish one grade finer than a fiber disc of the same grade. Additionally, the design offers flexibility, enabling it to follow curves and contours with reduced gouging, enhancing operator comfort.
