The Field Controls 12 Gas Vent Damper GVD-12PL is designed to operate automatically, facilitating natural draft during appliance operation while effectively preventing the loss of residual heat and conditioned air during off cycles, as well as blocking the infiltration of cold air during down drafts. Constructed from stainless steel, the damper is installed in the vent pipe after the draft hood or barometric and remains closed during off cycles to stop airflow. Upon a call for heat, the motor activates, rotating the damper 90° into an open position within approximately 15 seconds, allowing the burner to ignite and flue gases to exit freely. When the thermostat is satisfied, the burner ceases operation, and the damper automatically closes, with an option to lock it in the open position for service or troubleshooting. The damper is equipped with dual safety switches that ensure the burner fires only when the damper is fully open and is compatible with all 24 VAC, 60Hz intermittent ignition and standing pilot ignition systems. Its stainless steel construction offers superior corrosion resistance, with a power opening and closing time of approximately 15 seconds each. The device features a hold open switch to assist in troubleshooting and a keyed wiring harness connector plug designed for correct installation.
