The Interlake Mecalux slotted pallet rack beams serve as the horizontal elements of a pallet rack system designed for load support. Constructed from a single roll formed piece of 16-gauge steel, these beams feature welded end plates that slot into the front face of the tear drop upright frame. Each load level is created by using two beams, one affixed to each post of the frame. With dimensions of 2-3/4" x 1-5/8", the tear drop step beams accommodate cross bars and decking, and are certified by the Rack Manufacturers Institute, Inc. (RMI). The design includes slotted profiles with holes located at 1" intervals, allowing for the attachment of various accessories such as wire decks and cross bars, thereby preventing them from sliding or becoming dislodged. The beams are secured in place with two safety, sprung-loaded locking devices per beam, and the piston lock frame-to-beam connection automatically seats and locks to protect against accidental beam displacement. When selecting a load beam, it is advised to determine the desired length by adding a minimum of 10" for two pallet widths or 14" for three pallet widths, with additional spacing recommended for pallets with excessive load overhang. Each pair of beams is sold together, and it is essential to ensure that they can support the weight of pallets per level.
