Scotch-Brite™ SC Surface Conditioning Belt is a durable belt designed for detail work such as blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, deburring edges, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straightline-brushed finishes on various metals. These abrasive belts are effective in removing coarse grind lines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in a range of widths and lengths, they can be utilized on different belt sanding tools for diverse applications involving both wood and metal. The product line includes options for wide belt sanders, which are ideal for sanding large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable sanders suited for wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts designed to fit file tools in metalworking for accessing small areas or inside corners. Scotch-Brite™ SC Surface Conditioning Belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals: silicon carbide, a sharp synthetic mineral ideal for low-pressure tasks such as paint prep, and aluminum oxide, a hard mineral known for its high cut-rate and longevity. While silicon carbide may wear quicker, it delivers a finer finish compared to aluminum oxide. The design of the belts facilitates efficient sanding without clogging, as the small grooves in the abrasive material open as they pass around the drive wheel, making them suitable for a variety of applications, including blending, contour finishing, and stainless steel finishing.
