The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Surface Conditioning Belt measures 1/4" x 24" and features aluminum oxide VFN grit, designed for durable, detailed work such as blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring and deburring edges, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straightline-brushed finishes on various metals. These belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives and are available in a wide range of widths and lengths to fit most industrial belt sanders. Wide belts are suited for sanding and finishing large wood panels on wide belt sanders, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders for wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking to reach small areas or inside corners. Scotch-Brite™ SC belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide, a synthetic sharp mineral suitable for low-pressure applications such as paint prep and finishing, or aluminum oxide, a hard blocky mineral that offers a high cut rate and long life; aluminum oxide delivers longer durability while silicon carbide produces a finer finish but breaks down faster. Belt sanders employing these belts provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing across various surfaces, maintaining efficiency without clogging due to the small grooves in the abrasive belt that open as the belt moves around the drive wheel.
