Scotch-Brite™ SC Surface Conditioning Belt is a durable belt designed for detail work such as blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring edges, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straightline-brushed finishes on various metals. The belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in multiple widths and lengths, they are compatible with various belt sanding tools for applications on both wood and metal. The product line includes belts suitable for wide belt sanders for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable sanders, and narrow belts for file tools in metalworking, allowing access to small areas or inside corners. Scotch-Brite™ SC Surface Conditioning Belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide offers a sharp edge suitable for low-pressure applications like paint prep and finishing, whereas aluminum oxide is known for its high cut-rate and long lifespan. While silicon carbide tends to break down faster, it yields a finer finish. The design of the abrasive belts helps prevent clogging, ensuring consistent sanding performance across a variety of surfaces.
