The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 3" x 18" with medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive, designed to remove coarse grind lines, mill marks, or small burrs from wood and metal surfaces. These abrasive belts are available in various widths and lengths to fit a range of industrial belt sanders, including wide belt sanders for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable sanders used on wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts suitable for metalworking file tools in tight spaces. The Scotch-Brite™ SC belts offer a choice between silicon carbide, which is sharp and ideal for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, and aluminum oxide, which is a hard, blocky mineral providing a high cut rate and extended life. Belt sanders equipped with these belts maintain efficiency without clogging due to grooves in the abrasive belt that open around the drive wheel’s arc. The belts are applicable for blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, setting grain, stainless steel finishing, and producing straight-line brushed finishes, primarily used within the metalworking industry.
