The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt, measuring 2" x 48" with VFN grit and made from aluminum oxide, is designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths, suitable for different belt sanding tools used on wood and metal. The product range includes wide belts for sanding large wood panels on wide belt sanders, medium-width belts for edge or portable sanders to blend wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts for metalworking with file tools to access small areas or inside corners. Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are available with silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasives; silicon carbide is a sharp synthetic mineral ideal for low-pressure applications like paint prep and finishing, while aluminum oxide is hard and blocky, offering a high cut rate and long life, with silicon carbide producing a finer finish despite breaking down faster. Belt sanders enable rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces, maintaining efficiency without clogging due to the small grooves in the abrasive belt that open around the drive wheel. Applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and straightline brushed finishes, primarily within the metalworking industry.
