The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 6" x 48" and features a VFN grit aluminum oxide abrasive mineral designed for removing coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit a broad range of industrial belt sanding tools for applications on wood and metal. Wide belts are suited for sanding large wood panels with wide belt sanders, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking to reach small areas or inside corners. The aluminum oxide mineral is a hard, blocky substance providing a high cut rate and long life, ideal for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing tasks. Belt sanders equipped with these belts maintain efficiency without clogging due to small grooves in the abrasive belt that open around the drive wheel's arc. Typical applications include blending, corner blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, grain setting, stainless steel finishing, and producing a straightline brushed finish.
