The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt, measuring 3" x 132", is made from CRS grit aluminum oxide and is designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These abrasive belts are available in various widths and lengths to suit different belt sanding tools and applications on wood and metal. They are compatible with wide belt sanders for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable belt sanders used in sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts for metalworking tools accessing small areas or inside corners. The Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts come with a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is synthetic, very sharp, used for low-pressure applications like paint prep and finishing, and breaks down faster but yields a finer finish, while aluminum oxide offers a hard, blocky structure with a high cut-rate and long life. Belt sanders enable rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces, maintaining efficiency without clogging due to small grooves in the abrasive belt that open around the drive wheel arc. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and producing a straight-line brushed finish, primarily in metalworking industries.
