The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 2" x 72" and features a VFN grit aluminum oxide abrasive. These surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives and are available in various widths and lengths to fit most industrial belt sanders. Wide belts are designed for sanding and finishing large wood panels on wide belt sanders, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts accommodate file tools in metalworking to access small areas or inside corners. The belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide, a synthetic sharp mineral ideal for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing and producing a finer finish, or aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral that offers a high cut rate and long life. Belt sanders using these abrasive belts facilitate rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces, maintaining efficiency without clogging due to small grooves in the belt opening continuously around the drive wheel. Applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straight-line brushed finish in metalworking industries.
