The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 2-3/4" x 15-1/2" CRS grit aluminum oxide and is designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit a range of belt sanding tools for applications on wood and metal. 3M™ offers a broad selection of belts suitable for most industrial belt sanders, including wide belt sanders for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable sanders used on wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts for metalworking file tools accessing small areas or inside corners. Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is a sharp synthetic mineral suited for low-pressure applications such as paint prep and finishing, while aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral offering a high cut-rate and long life. Belt sanders facilitate rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces without clogging, as small grooves in the abrasive belt open as they move around the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and straightline brushed finishes, primarily for use in metalworking industries.
