The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 3 inches by 10-11/16 inches and features medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. They come in various widths and lengths to fit a range of industrial belt sanders used on wood and metal. Wide belts are designed for sanding and finishing large wood panels on wide belt sanders, medium-width belts suit edge or portable belt sanders for tasks like sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts are intended for file tools in metalworking to access small areas or inside corners. The belts are manufactured using aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral that provides a high cut rate and long life. Belt sanders equipped with these abrasives maintain efficiency without clogging due to small grooves in the belts that open around the drive wheel arc. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and creating a straightline brushed finish.
