Idem guard locking switches are engineered for robust position interlock detection for moving guards and feature a locking mechanism that maintains the guard closure until hazard removal. These tongue-operated switches are designed for installation at the leading edge of sliding or hinged machine guards, offering positively operated switching contacts along with a tamper-resistant key mechanism that is difficult to defeat. Depending on the application’s risk assessment, they can operate independently to provide positively operated contacts to EN60947-5-1, or be combined with dual channel safety monitoring relays for compliance with PLe category 4 to ISO13849-1 or SIL3 EN62061. The switches are available in various materials and housing styles to ensure flexibility based on application needs, and offer options for contact blocks, LED diagnostics, and different actuators that facilitate installation and enhance durability across demanding environments such as factory automation, packaging, food processing, pharmaceuticals, and petro-chemicals. Key features include 8 actuator entry positions with a rotatable head, 2 lock monitoring safety contacts, a high holding force of 2000N, LED1 indicating the status of solenoid applied power, LED2 showing guard lock status, 2 emergency manual release points, and an IP67 rating.
